Day 14 – Your favorite LGBT song or artist.
I happen to love Melissa Etheridge, and I have since I stole my mom’s copy of Yes I Am. Besides being an awesome singer, she’s also a gay rights activist. Can’t beat that.
I, of course, support outright gay pride, but at the same time I do prefer subtlety for art’s sake, and so I like the relative gender-neutrality even while she’s obviously writing about gay issues. Her lyrics are so emotionally complex that they have definitely won my admiration. Here’s an example for all y’all that might not be familiar with her:
